Frequently asked questions:
Do I have to come to both days?
No, you are invited to join us Thursday OR Friday.
Is it just for men?
Absolutely not, it's for Cornish leaders, however they identify. Funnily enough 'Arthur' and 'bastard' both seem to be provoking this question. Curious...
Am I a Cornish leader?
This question is one of the heartlands of this event. Read on for more (see "What makes you think you're not a leader?").
What you'll gain...
A refocus on the bigger picture to resource yourself and your people, leading reliably when the short-term challenges come crashing in.
A tangible moment of pause so you can take stock, notice what's happening for you today and actively, lucidly choose your next steps.
A pocketful of ideas and practices to take back to your teams, including the question: do they want to do this kind of work with you?
An invitation. We believe true change doesn't happen in unique moments like these, but in their integration. Choose to work with us after this event, and we will help you to make lasting change over the long term.
A reminder of your power (read on)...
What makes you think you're not a leader?
One of the common things we* come across in organisations is that the most brilliant people don't know they're brilliant. In turn, they don't know their true power.
For example, how do you feel about the phrase 'Cornish leader'? Maybe you don't call yourself a leader, even as CEO. Maybe you can call yourself a leader, but you're not ready to call yourself Cornish. Maybe this isn't about language at all, but about our sense of worthiness. Legitimacy.
For clarity:
“Cornish” means working and doing brilliant things here in Cornwall.
“Leader” means, deep down, you know you’re setting an example worth following… even if you don’t feel comfortable about claiming the title of leader.
This adventure is for you if:
If you do your work in Cornwall, actively surround yourself with brilliant people doing brilliant things, and you care about something bigger than yourself (enough to challenge your own thinking and ways of being)... there's a good chance you are a Cornish leader.
And you could be exactly the person this adventure is for.
After all, this world is our inheritance. Bastards or not, it's our responsibility to feel 'legitimate enough' to make our difference.
*We, are Sam Crosby and David Aula, and our work together is 'culture work', helping leaders and organisations to go deeper together, so they can attend to discomfort and challenge (instead of letting it sneak up on them), see the bigger picture, their roles within it and pull off the impossible magic of long-term focus in a world addicted to short-termism.
